My Great Night Market Experience

Ever since I was a kid my mom would tag me along her shopping trips may it be to Divisoria, malls or even to “baratillos”. Baratillo is a coined term for “bazaar”.

And now that I’m all grown-up, I inherited that distinct love for bazaars. So when I got a chance to visit a bazaar. I didn’t think twice. FYI, this is not your ordinary bazaar. I am very excited because this  a “night market”. And for me this is a different experience since this will be my first to visit a night market.

This night market I was mentioning is the “The Great Night Market” at Venice Piazza at Mckinley Hills The Fort. This night market was organized by MARESVILLE EXHIBITS. Maresville exhibits has been in the business organizing exhibits, bazaars and tiangges for 26 years already. Behind its success is Mr. Dominador “Boy” Santos Jr.

Maresville Exhibits advocates in helping small business players w/ competitive products showcase their business.

See pictures below! Photos below are my fave stall and exhibitors!

Pies and cakes by Chef Hasset Go

MY Shake at FRUITAS!

Bibimpop surely filled my stomach that night

Brazo de Mercezedes makes my stomach churn  for more!

My over all verdict for THE GREAT NIGHT MARKET is an 8. Though if was more privileged to have lived nearby maybe you will be seeing all day there because of the different foods that they offer and also the value for money that  you will be getting!

Health Alert!: The Best way to beat Dengue is To Prevent It.

As rains and monsoon floods continue to submerge our roads and homes and cause stagnant pools of water to accumulate in our surroundings, the threat of dengue remains increasingly high.
The dreaded dengue mosquito (Aedes aegypti) thrives in stagnant pools of water in tanks, cans, empty bottles, tires and hollow vessels that are not cleaned every day. It attacks at daytime – especially during the two hours before sunrise and sunset.  Just one bite can cause dengue, and symptoms appear as early as three to 14 days after. Because its symptoms can be associated with several other illnesses, thousands of dengue cases are oftentimes left untreated, and many result in death. The Department of Health (DOH) says dengue cases abound in suburban communities where junk shops, vulcanizing shops, tires on tops of roofs, backyard piggeries, and underdeveloped subdivisions become natural breeding grounds for Aedis aegypti.
For the deadly combination of stagnant water and dengue mosquito larvae cultivation to end, water-logged areas must be cleaned regularly to prevent the spread of dengue-carrying mosquitoes. Better yet, everyone, regardless of age and gender or status, must make the effort to protect himself/herself from the deadly bite of the dengue mosquito. The best cure against dengue is prevention.
Stanhome World, the No. 1 Direct Selling Home Care brand in Europe, shares some tips to prevent the dengue mosquito from biting:

1.    Eliminate the mosquitoes’ breeding places.
Aedes mosquitoes don’t lay eggs on dirty water. Their favorite place to lay their eggs is in clean yet stagnant water, in moist and dark surroundings.  Discard water from jars, bottles, drums, auto tires, flower/plant pots, trash cans, coconut husks and other materials that collect rain or run-off water. Also, check the gutter and canals in your home and clean them thrice a week to remove water deposits.

 2.    Don’t give mosquitoes access to your home.
Don’t store water in an open container. Add screens to your windows and doors if you can. If you can’t, just make sure that doors and windows are closed especially during the day time.

 3.    Wear protective clothes
Long sleeved shirts or jackets, socks, long pants, and other apparel that will cover your skin to prevent mosquito bites are recommended during these Dengue Danger Days.

4.    Use insect repellent and other products that repel mosquitoes.
Insect repellents can prevent mosquitoes from touching or landing on your clothes or skin. The citronella plant, whose smell the mosquitoes can’t stand, can be planted around the house and placed in strategic areas. STANHOME Banish Citronella -- an odor neutralizer which keeps mosquitoes out as it removes bad odors from your home -- can be hung in strategic places to erect a "force field" against mosquitoes. STANHOME Stan-Wick Citronella home deodorizer which emits a clean, fresh citronella scent also welcomes guests and rejects pests. Keep your skin insect free with STANHOME Insect Repellent Gel that forms an effective protective barrier against deadly mosquitoes and other insects for at least 7.5 hours.
Remember, if mosquitoes can’t get near you, they won’t be able to harm you at all.

The Kaya Natin! Champions Book 1: A book out to challenge the CORRUPTS

The Kaya Natin ! Champions Book 1

Congressman Bolet Banal III with me
So proud to be his constituent in Dist.3 Q.C

Rep.Bolet Banal III, me, and the other convenors !

What is Kaya Natin To’ Champions : Vol.1 It is a compilation of 10 stories about “Good Governance” champions from both local and Gov’t officials who embodied the values of effective and empowering leadearship with integrity.
The individuals included in this book are all members of KAYA NATIN! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership.

The people featured in the book are KAYA NATIN! Co-founders Jesse Robredo, Grace Padaca , Ed “Among” Panlilio, former mayor Sonia Lorenzo (San Isidro, Nueva Ecija), sen. Teofisto Guingona III, Rep. Teodoro Baguilat Jr. (Ifugao), Rep. Bolet Banal (3rd Dist. Of Q.C.), former councilor Mabel Sunga-Acosta (Davao City), Mayor Roque versoza Jr. (Tagudin, Ilocos Sur) and Board member Shirlyn Macasarte (Cotobato).

The objective of this book is to tell the people that there are still leaders in the government who take pride in doing what is just and fair. In my opinion this book will be a positive eye-opener to some of the pessimists who thinks that some people are out to run for a specific public office and do their corrupt activities.

Being a part of this book launch is an honor for me too, because of the people featured in this book is Rep. Bolet Banal III  of Dist.3 Q.C. By the way I am a proud constituent of District 3 where in he is A representative. I even voted him in the last May 2010 elections.

Kudos to the editors of this book for their effort, time and passion in putting up a good book. Future leaders may it be on the government and non-government will find lessons and relevance in this book.

The Kaya Natin! Champions will have its Book2 soon so we should all watch out for it.

Friends be sure to grab a copy of the book which still available at all Fully Booked Branches. But for those who want to volunteer and be an advocate for change you may reach them thru this link.www.kayanatin.org

Getting to know Bunny Malunda! : A Star with a Dream Come True!

New and musically talented artists are on the spring of their respective pursuits on becoming known in the music industry. And who would have thought that two years after her stint at “Pinoy Dream Academy” as a dreamer would we now here and see Bunny Malunda  with her very own album.

Despite the trials that she has to encounter most especially during the time that she had to undergo surgery for her vocal chords, still she paved way for her dreams. Now Bunny embraces each and every moment now that she has her very own album. With Bunny’s self-titled album, she combines personal strength with her grainy and hippie pop genres to reach out to her fans.

Behind this fab and talented artist is the producer of the album, Mr. Jaye Muller and Ben Patton. It was actually Jaye’s Filipina wife who actually first saw Bunny’s YouTube performance and eventually referred to his husband Jaye.

Mr. Jaye Muller is a Cebu-based producer and married to a Filipina. Upon her wife’s referral, he immediately searched and checked out Bunny’s YouTube video and he eventually liked it.
These two European/American Producers were also the one’s whi made 2 of KC Concepcion’s carrier single “ Not Like The Movies”, and “After the End”.

Jaye Muller also said that they did not have to “package” Bunny since she herself is what she actually is, “Born rockstar”  with her own real-life sexiness and attidude.

Among the songs in her album that I honestly think will leave a “nailing” mark in the music scene is her song “FYI” and “What I Meant” and my personal favorite “Mad Lover”.

The song “Mad Lover”, is a duet between her and real-life sweetheart Chivas Malunda (a former  PDA Dreamer as well.) This song is not your ordinary, cheesy love song. This is an upbeat song w/c talks about two lovers who are both wild and crazy in love.

Aside from singing, Bunny believes that she can also do more than singing. She also plans into entering a career in modeling and acting.

If you guys would like to catch Bunny on her mall tours , please like her on FACEBOOK!

“Bunny” self-titled album is officially manufactured and distributed by PolyEast Records.
