MOVIE RELEASE: SNOW WHITE and The HUNTSMEN

In Snow White and the Huntsman, a breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale begins. Kristen  Stewart  plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron). The casting of Ravenna’s nemesis was slightly trickier than finding her pursuer.  The filmmakers were searching for an actress who could capture both sides of the archetypal character: the innocence, naiveté and tenderness that Snow White demonstrates in the first half of our story, and the tough, physical warrior princess that she becomes in the second half.  They discovered a number of younger actresses who could play the first half of the movie brilliantly but had trouble convincing the team that they could carry off the tougher persona.  Likewise, when older actresses auditioned, they could well portray the battle-hardened soldier but were unconvincing as the recessive captive that the film’s early scenes demanded.

 Kristen Stewart

After a worldwide search for a performer who could fulfill the demands of this expansive role, Kristen Stewart, known for her role as Bella Swan in the blockbuster Twilight saga, was cast in the much coveted role of Snow White.  Comments director Rupert Sanders of the team’s choice: “Kristen is such an incredible talent.  She has obviously done amazing work in her projects to date, but this opens her up to an even larger audience and gives her a classical role.  She’s previously been in films that are of our era and not done a film quite like this.  This is her chance to rise, and to shine as well.  The two track well together.”

Producer Joe Roth gives a bit of background on her casting: “We all felt convinced that Snow White was not shy but somebody who was an aggressive, assertive, positive Joan of Arc-like figure.  We originally were looking for an unknown to play the character, in the same way we did on Alice in Wonderland, where we found Mia Wasikowska.  However, Rupert and I decided to fly down to New Orleans, where the last Twilight film was being shot, and sat and talked to Kristen.  We felt great about casting Kristen.  She really did her homework for this role.  She spent four months riding horses and four months with an English accent.”

Stewart introduces us to a young woman we thought we had long known: “We’re not trying to take Snow White and turn her on her side; we stay very true to who she is in the story.  She represents a reminder of just how great people can be to one another.”  Agreeing with Theron, the actress appreciated the material’s thoughtful take on beauty and power.  Stewart says: “It’s been interesting to play a young girl who is completely unaware of any vanity.  She just has none.  In almost every other role you play, you’re at least aware of yourself and might have to play a girl dealing with vanity as she grows into a woman.  The fact that Snow White has absolutely none of that, and Ravenna has the ultimate opposite, says something very nice about what people find beautiful in life.”

The performer appreciated the writers’ take on Snow White, a character initially trapped in a forest that draws its strength from any weakness.  Stewart reflects: “I do admire strong characters, but this wasn’t strong for the sake of strong.  It was so feminine and so human, and I love playing a character who is someone that you’re going to root for and throw your drink on the ground and stand up and go, ‘Yeah!’”

This part represented Stewart’s first time as an action heroine, albeit a conflicted one.  She says: “Snow White is initially this disconnected martyr.  After she escapes, she’s becoming this human being again, but she’s not necessarily fighting for herself.  It’s like there’s a hole that can’t be filled.  Most action characters are so self-righteous and vindictive, but she won’t do that.  I’ve never seen that before, and I think it’s awesome.”

 Charlize Theron

Stewart knew there would be much stunt work involved in a production of this size and scope, and she was more than ready for the challenge.  For example, during Snow White’s escape scene, the actress was required to be literally up to her shoulders in an enclosed sewer set with dozens of live rats.  As well, she had to jump off of a two-story building into a pool on a chilly London day to make this daring escape.

“Snow White and the Huntsman” is released and distributed by
United International Pictures through Solar Entertainment Corp.
Showing on June 1, 2012 nationwide.

OOTD: Black Sheer Polo is L-O-V-E

To my friends, I know they would say that I love wearing sleeveless shirts or something red. But one Monday afternoon, I finally decided to come of my comfort zone.

I don't like wearing polo because I feel hot inside and I hate it when I perspire. But being the brave girl that I am ever since, I BROKE MY USUAL STYLE.

Tell me, bagay ba?

Volcanic Grill: A New Place To Chill At !

Sometimes, over the events me and my blogger friends gets to attend, I feel bored. For me, it would be nice sometimes if we could find a place to chill after attending events. Good thing Tita Kitty, one of my blogger-friends mentor ( when it comes to Public Relations ), invited us to visit Volcanic Grill.

Volcanic Grill is located at # 3445 B.Florida St. Brgy. Palanan, Makati City. It's quite far for Quezon City resident like me but it was worth the travel. Why ?

First because food is A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

*Pork Bbq- Php 25/stick
*Sizzling liempo-Php 80
*Cheese Pizza-Php70

Just like their Garlic rice, Pita Pizza ,Pork BBQ, Gising-Gising, Grilled Liempo Turon -ala- mode.

 The Big Brother Bangus Php240
This grilled Bangus topped with Fresh Tomatoes were one of my favorites. For a 2.2kg of Bangus, you'll get value for your money.

 Stuffed Pusit
Perfect match with a night of laughter and hanging out at Volcanic Grill.

And for people like me who loves to sing, they have acoustic nights every Friday and Saturday.

And here's the catch, you can also request songs or even jam with them and get surprises as appreciation!

One thing I am most proud of VOLCANIC GRILL is that they use renewable source like the volcanic rocks to cook the food from their menu.

That's a Volcanic rock used for cooking.

And Volcanic Grill got me first with their ambiance!

The ambiance and table set-up is so comfortable that I think it'll foster more talks and memories with your friends on your visit.

So if ever you're near the area visit it and you might get a chance to see the owner, too! Believe me it's worth your time!

For updates you may like them on Facebook, just type www.facebook.com/Volcanic-Grill.

Movies2Watch: MADAGASCAR 3- Europe’s Most Wanted”- The Zoosters are on the run (Media Release)

Talk about taking the long way home

In the third installment of the billion-dollar “Madagascar” franchise, Alex (Ben Stiller), Marty (Chris Rock), Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Melman (David Schwimmer) are determined to make their way back to The Central Park Zoo in New York City. Leaving Africa behind, they’ve taken a detour and surfaced, quite literally, in Europeon a hunt for the penguins and chimps who have managed to break the bank of a Monte Carlo casino. Soon the animals are discovered by dogged French animal control officer Capitaine Chantel DuBois (Frances McDormand) who does not appreciate zoo animals running wild in her city and is thrilled by the idea of hunting her first lion! The Zoosters find the perfect cover in a down-and-out traveling circus where they hatch a plan to reinvent the circus, discover a few new talents and make it home to New York alive.

For the first time in 3D, the Zoosters of Madagascar are on the run, hiding out with the circus, doing death defying tricks and making new friends.

The filmmakers’ desire to take the characters to new places — literally and figuratively — continues in “Madagascar 3.” Incorporating Ralph Waldo Emerson’s inspirational quote, “Life is a journey, not a destination” as their maxim, the filmmakers’ chose to explore themes of what it means to be home, having confidence and finding ones passions. As a result, Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria have found a better sense of who they are, while grappling with the wilds of Madagascar and Africa.

As director Darnell puts it, “That’s what has been the core desire of our guys from the beginning: To identify their place in the world.”

And what a world it’s turning out to be for them. Their journey took the Zoosters from New York, to the eponymous island of Madagascar, then to the wilds of Africa. In the latest installment, the adventure unfolds all across Europe, which naturally calls for a grander scale visually and in the storytelling.

Says director Conrad Vernon: “The scope is a lot bigger in this one. We’re going to a lot of different places and meeting a lot of new characters. We’re in Rome, the Swiss Alps, London, Monte Carlo and New York.”

What’s more, for the first time, a “Madagascar” chapter is being filmed in 3D. Serendipitously, when they looked back at the earlier “Madagascar” films to figure out what they would have to differently this time around, the filmmaking team found that 3D is a process their franchise is well suited for.

Says Darnell: “We realized, stylistically, we were already making 3D movies. Because of the films’ comedic tone, we were often doing things that put stuff out in front of the camera. Once we recognized that our cinematography and our comedy really lent themselves beautifully to the 3D world, we really didn’t have to change much of what we were doing. But taking our animals into a circus automatically gives us these wonderful opportunities — we’re moving not just across the surface of the earth, we’re moving up in the air, flipping, rolling and flying — to work in 3D, of course.”

Adds director McGrath: “3D just gives you so many more tools to work with. It’s immersive. You can underscore an emotional scene as much as you can the action.”

Just as satisfying was the ability for Darnell, McGrath and Vernon, all long-time friends and DreamWorks Animation veterans, to work together in the same capacity. Though Darnell and McGrath helmed the first two films, Vernon had served as a creative consultant and voiced Mason the chimp, even as he was helming “Shrek 2” and later, “Monsters vs. Aliens.” Three directors is definitely not a traditional route, but on this film, it was a real dream of the filmmakers to work together and share in the creative process.

DreamWorks Animation SKG Presents “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted,” a PDI/DreamWorks Production featuring the voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric The Entertainer, Andy Richter, Frances McDormand, Jessica Chastain, Bryan Cranston and Martin Short. The film is directed by Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath,

“Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” is distributed by United International Pictures thru Solar Entertainment Corporation. Showing soon at your favorite theaters.

Tutuban CenterMall: An afternoon of Fun Shopping

In nearly two weeks school will open again. And as early as last month (April), I already have plans on what to shop for my kids’ school needs. When I was young, I’m always excited when the month of MAY comes because that means mom and me will be going to the nearest bookstore to buy my school needs.

Now that I’m a mom myself, I also wanted my kids to have the best even with the things that they need in school. So a very timely invitation from Tutuban Centermall had me going on a Monday afternoon in Divisoria.

As we all know Divisoria is also a haven for moms like me who likes to stretch the capabilities of her money. I like Divisoria because I know and I CAN haggle the prices of the items I want to buy. I haven’t been to Divisoria for the past 6 months and I’m excited to exercise my “tawaran” power !!!

This time Tutuban Centermall gave us Php1,000 cash money to buy whatever  “Back-To-School” needs we can buy with that amount.

Since my two boys are already in elementary, (Zeus in First Grade and LJ in Second Grade); I plan to buy their school uniforms (pants and polo), Socks, briefs, school supplies like notebooks, pencils, crayons and etc.

I was too excited to go on a Monday since it’s in the afternoon, I don’t have any appointments and the weather’s cooperating (brief rain showers over the weekend) and most of all, it’s a shopping date as well with blogger friends lariza, Jing, Rain and Vin.

We were toured by the very nice and accommodating staff of Tutuban Centermall  Ad and Promo, Ms. MJ.
Our group decided to check out the PRIME BLOCK AREA first. Actually, if you were to ask me how to go there, Sorry, but I’m just bad with directions, I just always rely on my memory to guide me.

What do I have in my list? Well, I'm planning to buy my boys their school uniforms (pants and polo), and some school supplies also. I'm wishing and praying that I could at least buy them all with a budget of Php1,000.

We first went to Prime Block.

Tutuban Centermall is divided into 3 shopping areas: The Prime Block, Cluster Building and CenterMall.

For me the best area to shop for uniforms is at the Prime Block because it is where I was able to buy my son's pants and uniforms in way much lower price.

Fortunately with the Php1,000 allocated budget, I was able to buy the items above; Alphabet Flashards for Php35 from PaperMart, A Backpack for Php 230, Two pants for Php140 each, Polo at Php130 and 75 (for polo sizes of 10 and 16), Notebooks and school supplies((all amounting to Php215) for Zeus at Php12.50 each and a Shape sorter for only Php35 . If you want to see more photos f our shopping challenge , please click here.

I had fun fun shopping at Tutuban CenterMall. I miss those days when I was a kid and mom would bring me along to shop here. Things sure has change since Tutuban Centermall was built. Shopping here makes shopping less cautious of pickpockets (although we can not really avoid things like that can happen in a mall), more cooler ambiance and more shopping choices too. And before I forgot, there are food choices too, just in case you get hungry after all that shopping. You might want to check out Chicken Deli too! Chicken Deli's having their Buy1 Take 1 on the Liempo Meal! That would be a lot of savings, right!

So guys prepare your lists now and troop to Tutuban Centermall and for sure you'll find all the things in your list.

YakitoriQ: A Foodcart Business on the Rise

With everything that goes digital (Even karma as they say ), our lives has come in a “fast-paced” routine. We sometimes pass the usual/regular meal time because of the busy lives we’re into, but I guess there’s a solution for everything.

Just last weekend Jorge Wieneke III and Carl Quema, the brains behind First Asian Food Project Inc. launched their newest “baby” in town, the YAKITORIQ.

YakiktoriQ is a Japanese street food usually consisting of chicken and its different parts, skewered and grilled to perfection, dipped in secret barbeque sauce. The concept behind YakitoriQ is it's the first Fried Yakitori BBQ.

To date there are 5 varieties of YakitoriQ namely: Chicken BBq, Chicken Isaw, Pork Bbq, Pork Isaw, and Pork Tenga. The good thing here is you can also order it along your favourite rice or chips.

All the YakitoriQ are priced at Php16 each; not bad for quality and safe-to-eat street food.

Mr. Jorge Wieneke III is not your beginner type of businessman , where in fact he was the man behind the success of other businesses such as, Potato Corner, Buy The Bucket, JapOk!, My House, KBop Quick Korean, BFI (Business First Inc.), and Tokyo Tempura. He is also the founding member of the Association of Filipino Franchisers Inc. He helped established this to govern and help protect both franchised businesses. He also currently shares his experience by teaching Applied Entrepreneurship in Ateneo de Manila's Center for Continuous Education.

Mr.Carl Quema, Mr.Wienekee's partner also shared to us during the launch that they will be opening 6 branches by June 2012 at Victory Mall, Greenhills, St. Francis Square, MCU, Tutuban FoodStrip and Robinson's Ermita. They are also targeting SM MALLS but they have yet to wait the mall's permission since they have to arrange how their products should be cooked since some malls do not allow cooking with smoke emissions.

I have tasted the different YakitoriQ variations and I must say that each is tasty in their own right. So  by June 2012 expect YakitoriQ to be serving you in their carts.

Filipino Blogger's Hub: A Simple Acquaintance Party

This year the group Filipino Bloggers Hub will have  a party for bloggers an it is dubbed as

A Simple Acquaintance Party
Text Box: 1:00PM

In the cyber world where all bloggers are moving-in has become more challenging due to different trends that have been born from time to time in every click and tick of their finger on the mouse. As the blogger pursue their passion, they tend to produce more effective write-ups that are based on their experiences, observation and even with their own opinion.
Today, blogging becomes a good portal of advertisement and online promotion because it can give a huge impact and easy to access information upon clicking the publish button. In just one click, everything went to life as it was being shared and like by others instantly upon uploaded.
Given that bloggers exist every minute and seconds in every social-networking site as well as in the blogging flat form. While giving the readers and other people to have the latest updates as well as entertainment in their web sites or blog sites. But wait a minute; did all bloggers who read other sites blog knew the author personally or acquaintance? I think, not!
Perhaps, some know each other while others tend to get intimidated or something as they see each other in different places. Why? Maybe because they never get a chance to be introduce to each other.

Moreover, the blogosphere in the Philippines is just a small piece of the universal blogosphere. Where is so impossible to know the person one by one in a particular websites or blog site?  And so, bloggers created an event that we called “Filipino Bloggers Hub Party” to get a chance to see, meet and know the person behind in every blog that we read, follow and subscribe to.

On the 19th of May 2012, 1:00pm at the Central Colleges of the Philippines, bloggers around the Metro will gather to have a simple acquaintance party with full of surprises, giveaways, fun games and raffles.  This is the chance to meet and know other bloggers, and this is the day that all bloggers will unite and promise to continue what started intelligently as to give people good, and balance information that people want to know.
To all bloggers in the Metro out there, we would love to know you more and see you in the 1st Filipino Bloggers Hub Party of the year!

This event has been sponsored by Central Colleges of the Philippines, San Marino, Dianna Stadler, Human Nature, Tiger Energy, Classic Savory, MEGA Publishing Group, OkayOkay, Get Beauteous, Taste of Goodness, and Tablets Mania
