Indepedent Artists and Moviemakers Bagged Awards at CINEMA ONE ORIGINALS 2012


Cinema One Originals 2012 proudly presents its biggest line-up for its 8th year run with 13 competition feature films with two divided categories: “Cinema One Plus” and “Cinema One Currents”.





The 13 films that made the festival more bolder and bigger in terms of content were: Mariposa Sa Hawla ng Gabi, Mater Dolorosa, Baybayin, Ang Paglalakbay ng mga Bituin sa Gabing Madilim (Arnel Mardoquio), Catnip (Kevin Dayrit), Melodrama Negra (Ma. Isabel Legarda), Slumber Party (Emmanuel Dela Cruz), Pascalina (Pam Miras), Anak Araw ( Gym Lumbera),EDSA XXX ( Khavn Dela Cruz), Aberya (Christian Linaban), Palitan (Ato Bautista) and Mamay Umeng (Dwein Baltazar).

 From L-R:Dr. Alvin Yapan Phd, Stephen Cremin, Paolo Bertolin, Direk Joyce Bernal, and the genius behind Cinema One Originals Mr. Ronald Arguelles. Though Sid Lucero was not present at the Photo-op, he was also part of the Jury for this year's Cinema One Originals 2012 Awards Night.

And with all these  films currently showing, last December 3, 2012 at The Dolphy Theater held its awards night to cite those who gave their best in the respective awards category. A total of

Ms. Tara Cabullo from Sunlife Phils. (R) and Ma. Isabel Legarda

The Audience Choice Award "Melodrama Negra" (as awarded by SunLife a total of Php1M insurance) 

 This guy is one hell of a genius and at a young age he has been  awarded with the awards he has bagged last night, Congratulations Kevin Dayrit! I hope after all the awards you'll still continue to be inspired and be an inspiration to all aspiring film makers like you!

These are the awards that Kevin Dayrit brought home last night.
Best In Sound: Join The Club (Catnip)
Best In Editing: Kevin Dayrit
Best Screenplay: Kevin Dayrit (Catnip)
Best Director : Kevin Dayrit

Best in Production Design: Michael Espanol (Mariposa sa Hawla ng Gabi)

 Best in Cinematography: Danilo Santos III (Anak Araw)


Best Supporting Actress: Ria Garcia (Melodrama Negra)
This young actress says that she lucky enough to have received the award in the very same stage where she did her first acting recital.

 Best in Supporting Actor: Nicolas Varela (Aberya)

 Best Actress: Mara Lopez (Palitan)

 Best Actor:Alex Medina (Palitan)

Best Picture: Jury Prize : Paglalakbay ng mga Bituin Sa Gabing Madilim (Arnel Mardoqoui)

 Over all Best Picture: PASCALINA (Pam Miras)
Pascalina talks about another yet untypical story of a simple girl who after visiting her dying aunt experiences changes in her life that will push her to the edge of madness and monstrosity


Direk Peque Gallaga receives his award "Honorary Awardee for Pioneering Efforts in the Independent Film"from long-time colleague  /megman Direk Lore Reyes

 Direk Peque Gallaga says that a movie is not solely own by the Director but also by everyone who has taken part from the time it was conceived till it was finished.

Cinema One Originals did not only cited the best of the best but also paid tribute to a brilliant actor/Director, Peque Gallaga.

If you want to know why these films bagged most of the awards, you may still watch them at Robinson’s Galleria Movieworld from November 28-December 9, 2012.
