In this fast-paced world of technology and lifestyle, the learners of today face more sophisticated means of learning than before. As change is constant and inevitable, your child will face continuous challenges as he progresses in school and in life.

Is your child ready to take on the challenge and the change in our country’s educational landscape? How can you support your child as he faces the bigger world?

Aiming to help every parent support their child in achieving their full potential to triumph in any test of life, Kumon Philippines, Inc. is all set to once again deliver values and insights for the parents and educators of today through their annual Kumon Philippines Education and Parenting Seminar (KPEPS) to be held on May 19, Saturday, 2:00-4:30pm at Cinema 4 of SM North EDSA, The Block in Quezon City. With the theme Achievers of Today, Ready for the Future!” (How Parents Can Guide Their Children Amidst the Changing Landscape of the Philippine Education), KPEPS 2012 is set to share with the parents the current scenario of our country’s education system along with the possible enhancements to be implemented and how all these can affect the learners of today. To be joined by industry professionals, KPEPS will provide helpful insights for parents in guiding their children as they face the challenges of today and the future.

Mr. Henry Tenedero, an Education Reform Advocate who is the Board Director of the Executive Council of the International Learning Styles Network (ILSN) and President of the Center for Learning and Teaching Styles Philippines (CLTS, Phils.), will articulate the different challenges that children currently face and the possible changes in our education system such as the introduction of the K to 12 program in the local education setting.

In the next module, “Kumon: Every Child, an Achiever,” Ms. Susie Tsoi, a Kumon Instructor for more than 10 years, will give parents helpful tips on how they can effectively guide their children in facing the current challenges in the educational system and the changes prompted to come in its progression. With Teacher Susie’s extensive experience with students of varying ages, and the countless times she has witnessed how every child can be an achiever, she will share real stories on how parents play an important role in helping their children succeed in school and in life.

With passion for excellence and sincere belief in every child’s unique capability, Kumon has been steadfast in spreading the Kumon Method of Learning to as many children possible, making an impact on the lives of parents and children of different generations around the world. Inspired by the belief that every child is an achiever, Kumon Philippines, Inc. continues to work hand in hand with parents and educators to help every Filipino child harness his great potential towards the realization of his dreams.

A Walk I Will Always Remember...

This is my eldest son LJ , He's now on 1st grade

Today was the First Monday of 2010 so I had to wake up 4am to prepare for my eldest son for his class at 6am. But honestly how I wished that I wasn't up yet. Of course, some of you  might agree with me me on this note.We are still loving the the cool, christmas air trhat had started over the holidays. But who am I to complain? as a full-time mom that i am, this is no ordinary day! This is the "first" Monday of the year2011 so I guess it is just right to start the year right by waking up and walking my son to school. I love walking with my son to his school. This also one of our bonding moments together. This is the only time He gets our time alone. So whenever I walk with him i try to bond with him by talking with  him.

For me bonding with my kids is very important. Doing that means sharing myself to them. Knowing them really personal. My son is only 6years old and I think that at his age he still needs me . My son is shy at school and that's one thing that's stopping him from getting high grades. So everytime we walk , I try to talk to him, ask him what he does inside the classroom. But it made smile smile when he answered my question. He honestly told me that he made " kulit" ( read : naughtiness) inside the room. I'm glad at the same time though he does not excel like other children do is the fact that he's honest enough to tell me the truth. Being "Honest" is one of the foundations of  molding a child. I know one day, he'll bloomed and be brave enough to excel in class.

Now Mommies out there! Do you have other experiences raising your pre-school kid or toddler kid? Please feel free to share your insights , suggestions or tipson how how to guide pre-school children by leaving a comment in the comments section of this blog. Thanks and have a nice day all through out
