Binibining Pilipinas 2013 Grand Parade and #50Beautiful Years Celebration

For the past year that I have live here in Cubao, Quezon City, the one thing that I really like it here is because it was near everywhere. It’s near to hospitals, market and even to shopping centers.

Cubao is known for the biggest shopping complex which is Araneta Center. These past few years it was not just your usual shopping destination but also a concert destination for concert aficionados. Thanks for the #NoOtherVenue- SMART ARANETA COLISEUM. It was the venue for almost all of the anticipated concerts.

But with passing years that I have passed by these very busy district of Quezon City, there’s still one thing that I continue to anticipate every year.

Who would not? Araneta Center is the home venue for the yearly anticipated and the most grandest Filipina Beauty Pageant Search ever- the BINIBINING PILIPINAS 2013.

For the Year 2013, it will celebrate its 50th year of giving chances to every Filipinas dream of becoming a beauty queen. For almost 50 Years, BINIBINING PILIPINAS does not fail to give us the most charming, smart and beautiful Filipinas who will represent us to the MS.UNIVERSE pageant.

And true to its mission- we recently almost won the MS. UNIVERSE 2012 title courtesy of Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 2012 Winner Janine Marie Tugonon who won 1st Runner-up at the Ms. Universe 2012.

So Binibining Pilipinas has a lot to celebrate its #50BeautifulYears- the triumph of Ms. Universe 2012 1st Runner-Up Janine Tugonon and this years’ Top 50 Binibining Pilipinas 2013 Candidates.

Since this year is 50th Year of celebrating Filipina beauty- Binibining Pilipinas 2013 has 50 candidates who will all vie for the crowns- Binibining Pilipinas-Universe, World, Ms. International and Tourism.

I was so lucky that I wasn’t able to miss this year’s “Grand Parade of Beauties”. If the past years I was just one of the spectators of the yearly parade, for this year- I am both a spectator and media guest.

I am very humbled and honored at the same time to be able to see the #50BeautifulYears of Filipina prowess and beauty.

The parade started at around 5pm at the South Garage parking of SMART ARANETA. Even it was so hot, the supporters and fans did not mind it all-what was important is that they will be able to see their lovely bets.

Since it was the Golden Year for Binibining Pilipinas, the 50 lovely candidates was clad in golden bikinis. The ladies also paraded in Miata Cars making it more posh than ever.

Wait no more here's the photos of the Binibining Pilipinas #50BeautifulYears Grand Parade last April 6, 2013

MasterCard supports women empowerment through Project Inspire 2013

MasterCard recently launched the third edition of Project Inspire: 5 Minutes to Change the World, and awarded an additional USD25,000 grant to past Grand Winner Hapinoy, as a renewal of its commitment to women empowerment.

Co-organized with UN Women Singapore, Project Inspire is a digital and social media driven program that encourages young people across the world to empower disadvantaged women and girls in Asia/Pacific, the Middle East or Africa (APMEA). This year’s winner will receive a USD25,000 grant from MasterCard.

Leading the event is MasterCard Worldwide Georgette Tan, group head of communications, APMEA, who said, “This project is a tribute to the women who put the needs of their children, husbands, families and communities, ahead of themselves. These women’s goals are to take care of their families by putting food on the table and having access to medicine, ensuring that their children go to school and to augment their husband’s income. And as a result of their economic empowerment, these women gain self-confidence.”

She is joined by MasterCard Philippines vice president for marketing and client relations Judith Dayrit, who welcomed the attendees, including Hapinoy’s co-founder and president Mark Ruiz, executive director TJ Agulto, and managing director Erika Tatad.

Ruiz recounted the Hapinoy story, and shared, “Hapinoy was founded in 2006 out of the desire to tap the sari-sari store industry, which is the humblest of businesses but has so much power,” he explains. Through the Project Inspire grant, his team was able to roll out a scalable microentrepreneurship training program, which allowed them to reach out to more ‘nanays’. Today, Hapinoy’s listed beneficiaries are up from 2011’s 100 to today’s 1,300, and there are now 7,000 stores under its network found all over the country’s South Luzon area.

Also present were Hapinoy nanays Maribel Tolentino, Joy Sallan, and Marina Reyes, who shared the good business practices they learned through the microentrepreneurship program, such as the conscientious recordkeeping, the ‘first in, first out’ principle, visual merchandising, and setting limits to the customers’ credit line.

For Project Inspire 2013, MasterCard welcomes more of such transformative and sustainable ideas to support women empowerment. Interested participants are encouraged to visit www.5minutestochangetheworld.org to know more about Project Inspire 2013. The deadline for the submission of entries is June 30, 2013.

Goods.Ph : A New Online Shopper's Friend

Are you one of those online peeps who always hunts for gadgets, clothes, shoes or even accessories online? Well I'm one of them also. before I used to be skeptical about buying stuff online because, you don't know if you're really buying on the legit ones.

Internet has done a lot most especially when it comes to e-commerce. We know enjoy its perks like buying stuff online, track our finances online and even pay for our basic utilities (like electricity bills. water bills and even cellphone bills).

When browsing or shopping online, what I'm used to seeing is items like gadget items like cellphones, cellphone accessories, laptops and fashion items like clothes so when I was invited to Goods.Ph launch and learned that they are selling grocery items online-I got interested right away!

GOODS.PH was launched last February 25, 2013 at 55 Events Place. Luckily I was one of the bloggers invited to its launch. The launch was well-attended by its customers, FB fans and suppliers.

What's great with Goods.Ph is that when you order online, they will still call you and verify your order- that's why they got your contact no. when you ordered and after giving your desired date for shipping or pick-up ofthe item , they will still call you. Tom Cruise Again Stars in the Upcoming Movie "OBLIVION

In 2073, a 37 year-old former-Marine Commander Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed at Earth which was nearly destroyed by an alien invasion 60 years ago. As part of a massive operation to extract the planet's remaining vital resources, he lives in an airborne "town" floating thousands of meters above the Earth.

His mission nearly complete, Jack's soaring existence comes crashing down when he rescues a 22 year-old female stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a series of events that forces Jack to question everything he knows about the war and its aftermath. In addition, after being captured by an insurgency led by 102 year-old Malcolm Beech (Morgan Freeman), Jack is told that the society in which he lives may in fact be a police state.

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Tom Cruise had expressed interest in the film for a considerable period of time, and officially committed to it on May 20, 2011.

For casting one of the lead roles opposite Cruise, the producers considered five actresses: Jessica Chastain, Olivia Wilde, Brit Marling, Noomi Rapace and Olga Kurylenko, and all five auditioned on August 27, 2011. It was subsequently announced that Chastain would play one of the film's two female leads. In January 2012 Chastain entered into talks for a part in the Kathryn Bigelow film Zero Dark Thirty and subsequently dropped out of Oblivion contention. It was later announced that the role had been given to Kurylenko.
For the other leading role, the producers initially considered Hayley Atwell, Diane Kruger and Kate Beckinsale. The three actors traveled to Pittsburgh to screen-test with Cruise, who was filming Jack Reacher. The role finally went to Andrea Riseborough. Melissa Leo was cast at a later date.
Production began on March 12, 2012 and wrapped on July 14, 2012. Filming locations included Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana. Oblivion, shot in stunning digital 4K resolution on location across the United States and Iceland,  is an upcoming 2013 science fiction film based on the Radical Comics graphic novel Oblivion by Joseph Kosinski and directed and co-produced by Kosinski.

Oblivion is a Universal Pictures presentation. It is distributed by United International Pictures through Solar Entertainment Corporation. Coming soon at your favorite theaters and cinemas this April.

How To Not Miss a Special Family Occasion Via Max's Online Delivery

With the fast changing and ever revolving world like ours, it may seem hard to cope up with how demanding our everyday lives can be. Just like me, I work part-time as a Marketing Associate for an up-coming events company and I also blog on the side. Aside from being a worker , I am also a full-time wife and mom to two adorable kids.

I am so blessed right now that everything is falling into place. I blog and I have job that keeps me sane from the same and usual routine of being a house-keeper. I'm not saying i'm bored with being a wife and a mom, but let me just say that when I finally had to work after being eight years of being a full-time mom-It made me work and aspire more. It made me strive more and after all these years that I'm craving for success, I finally say that I was in the "game".

Being in the "game" made me want to go to work everyday and prove to everybody that I'm worth every penny my boss pays me. It gives me natural high that I can also do two things that I both love, "being in an events company and still manage my own blog". My peg is like "work, blog and pray".

With all the challenges, failures and triumphs that I actually face every day, it's just an added spice. But do you agree that work can get in the way sometimes? Hey, I can relate with it so much. Having to work part-time 3x a week and blog in between day, that has left me an ample time with my family. It should be a win-win situation but that is where I fail this time.

Let me share a personal experience where I actually missed a very, very important celebration in our family. I know, till now I still feel guilty why I actually missed that very momentous celebration of our lives.

Just to give you an idea about it, let me start by sharing that I'm actually married to my husband for almost 4 years, but if I will include the years since we got together and gave birth to our first-born- we're almost together for 8 years and ...counting!

Maybe by now you have an idea what is that very special occasion that I missed- Yeah I missed our WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. Yeah I know it is very unlikely or normal for a wife to forget or skip it but hey I'm not perfect.

On that particular day, I had a coverage and thought it would start on time. But just like most events, unavoidable circumstances are likely to happen. It started a bit late. If it would have started on time I might have surprised my husband with a surprise dinner. I still feel awful not having been carried my plan out for our anniversary. While I was on coverage, he texted and his message felt so disappointed with my missing our own anniversary. How could he not? It’s not normal for wives to forget or missed on it. He’s also busy but he actually found the time to go home early that night just so the whole family could celebrate. As you see, if you would be reading my previous posts, it’s a normal thing that I usually go out with my two boys but we’re pretty strict with family occasions. We see to it that we strictly go out and celebrate family occasions.
To continue the story, I arrived home late found no one at home. My husband still disappointed just went out for dinner with the kids-without me L.

I told him I was so sorry but I guess it wasn’t enough. He gave me the cold shoulder for months. He didn’t want to go out with us on weekends. It had me thinking what to do to make up for the “fail” wedding anniversary date.

After a few months, I said this can’t go on forever. I have to think of something to make him feel I am truly sorry about what happened. So I thought of taking them out on my birthday. I’m crossing my fingers that of course he won’t miss it.

So on my birthday, I skipped work and texted him that after his work he should meet us somewhere. Just an hour before dinner, I texted him to meet us at Max’s Restaurant in Scout Tuason. Max’s Restaurant is my family’s favourite. Even when I was a kid when my Mom and Dad would fight, my Dad would take us out to lunch and eat at Max’s Restaurant. My dad would order their Kare-Kare and house specialty which is the Max’s Fried Chicken and everything would be back to normal. It’s my dad’s way of making it up with my mom. And I did that also with my husband. I wanted him to feel that I appreciate all his efforts and hard work just to support our family most especially for really taking the time out just to go home early for our anniversary and celebrate.
Hoping against hope that it will work.

At Max’s we celebrated it with a birthday dinner. After eating a sumptuous dinner, little did he know that I when the cake was served, it was for him. Instead of me blowing it, I had served unto him, with matching dialogues, “I’m sorry I had to miss our anniversary”? And there I saw him smile shyly because the dining attendants were also surprised with what I did. His smile made me think that now everything’s settled. I realized it was never really too late to make up for what I did. Max’s Restaurant is “sureball” answer to my problem. I realized I was so right by following my instincts. I was thankful that those fond my memories that I had when I was a kid really paid off.

Looking back, maybe I should have something delivered at our house during anniversary, right?

Oh how could I missed it? I should have ordered our favourite Max’s Restaurant dishes via Max’s Delivery Online at www.maxschicken.com . It might have prevented my hubby and kids from leaving the house and dined somewhere without me.
